Hello everyone!

Just joined today and I really like the site but I feel as if it would be much better off if it had a page with user-made chat rooms.

Anyone else agree? tongue.gif

I actually have an intense dislike of web based irc, and even though the technology has improved in leaps and bounds since the very first time I encountered it and then subsequent attempts at setting one up for one of my webstes where the community members also thought that one would be a brilliant idea, I am still scarred tongue.gif

I think using Java it can be done well.
Java seems to handle it very well.

Web based irc doesn't always cut it for me without first having bot abilities

The only reason I really used dA's system was so I could improve my php skills (I wrote plugins for and hosted a bot for a chatroom)
If we had an official bot base for chatrooms, then I would be happy to work with one, however I think we should wait a bit of time before we work on something like that!
There's still a fair amount of the site that isn't finished (groups, for one thing)

Maybe when we're out of beta, the dev team will consider it

We will be coming out with a awesome chat system in the future, Don't you guys worry! It will blow DA's chat system out of the water ... Once all the other big features like Groups are done, It's on top of our to-do list.

I'd prefer an actual IRC channel, but a web-based chat system is okay too.

Ya, I can't wait for it either. :]
The chat rooms might just be [in my opinion] the biggest thing that dA has on Artician.

Since everyone will have access to the IRC server directly, bots will be 100% supported like any other IRC server.
