Artician Pro - Need Feedback

Hey everyone,

First off, I'd like to welcome all these wonderful new users around here. It's such a pleasure to see many new faces, and beautiful portfolios.
We are very busy working on some great new features including Artician Groups, and Artician Pro. For this topic, we'd like to get some of your feedback on Artician Pro, so we can truly give what the community wants.



Artician Pro is a subscription based service for $4.95/mo on Artician. It will provide additional features and a more professional mark on your Account. Some of the things included in Artician Pro are:

• No Ads on the site at all, and ads are even removed from your userpage and content when people are viewing.
• Allow users to keep ads, and make money off them new!
• Browse up to 150 submissions per page in Browse sections
• More visitors to your userpage
• Unlimited Access to Pro Resources. (This will be done in the near future when we develop a resources section)
• First notice on Events, Contests and New Features
• Link your own domain to your userpage new!
• Hide network bar to guests (black bar at the top of every page of artician) new!

As of now, these are all the things that we have been able to think of for Artician Pro accounts. We really want to hear your ideas, and what you'd like to have if you were getting a Pro Account. What sort of things would be useful to you as an artist, designer or photographer managing a portfolio. Anything that would help you manage your portfolio, be more professional, or simply make your experience on Artician better.

Any feedback, ideas, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cmon.. don't hold back, we know your thinking of something, and we're here to listen.

Nope, still needs some work. We are very very close to done. But want more Ideas!

Sounds really nice. I was thinking for subscription already and the idea of having no ads even when other users are watching your stuff is great.

Exactly how does it give you more visitors?

I will probably subscribe, but my main reason for that is simply the fact that I feel I own Artician that much, after all these years of mutual love (… for the most part).

Im working on a few ideas, I will post em when they are done!

I like the $5 a month, that's a great price. I've never subscribed to any artist community service before so I don't know how it compares or really what it is like but I'm willing to try it out. Also I just got here so I don't even have the full picture of what Artician already offers.

What does 'resources' involve? is that like stock imagery?

i would love to join... sounds coolio, maybe offer discounts or instead of paying a monthly fee you have the option of paying a REDUCED yearly fee?

@ sqwall - Yeah we wanted to allow creatives to use this as their primary portfolio. And to do so, it needs to be professional - professional enough to show clients, and anyone else interested in their work.

@ runaway - Don't feel obligated, but it sure will make you look cool! We will drive more traffic to Pro Accounts, by creating new places around the site, and possibly in old ones, to feature Pro Accounts, and their work. Pro Account will be favored a little more (obviously), but artician will still be brining out talent from the whole community, even those who don't have Pro.

For what your getting, it is a great price...Resources will be an incredibly powerful directory of resources, some of the things you will see there are: Tutorials, Stock Images, Stock Footage, Wallpapers, Vectors / Clip Art, Fonts, Icons, Brushes, Design Schools, Competitions & Conferences, and more. Users will be able to vote things up or down, so the best resources will float to the top, anything not so good will sink to the bottom.

OOOOOOOH then at $5 a month that is an incredible savings!! Gettin' it.

More customization for pro profile pages? ( might be hard to do since you can do damn near anything already )

Stealing an idea from myspace: The ability to change the order of your friendslist so your top friends can be on top?

Have more just can't remember em.

My Ideas.

1. Remove the Artician footer and affiliates on your profile page
2. Ability to create custom pages on your portfolio. Like "About Me", "Services", "Contact" etc. Normal personal portfolio pages
3. Have your username on the forums and mainsite show in a different color than everyones
4. More pre-made themes or "skins" to choose from
5. Ability to put a poll or some type of custom module on your userpage
6. Be able to choose different blog editors like WYSIWYG, etc.

When I think of more I will make a new post.....cheers!

Some really good idea's there sev.

Possibly a tool/program to assist in the customization of your user page for those coding challenged individuals like myself.

I know you have guides and all but it's still moderately challenging for some one as inexperienced in coding to go through and change minor details. For example, on my user page I'd like to have everything with the dark blue bg, all my normal text including the text in the modules a light grey and have the links the light green color. If you look at my page you can see how much of that I actually accomplished. ( STOP LAUGHING AT ME CODERS )

But yeah maybe just a simple little tool that allows you to change the overall appearence more easily. Background text, links, module themes etc.

Yeah, we definitely want to make a "simple customization tool" like change text colors, background, etc... But I'm not so sure we should limit it to Pro-Only users... Good suggestion though!

+User ability to change and delete

-Customizable "Viewing Image page": User can change how visitors are viewing their images. For example when someone clicks on the thumbnail visitors are taken to the preview image which shows the right panels (user box, Submission Details, Related Stuff, etc..). Well for pro uses they can change that, the option to have the right panels display or not, or what they want to display on the preview page of their artworks.

-Cuzomizable Skin "viewing Image page": Allow pro users to have the preview page look the same as their profile page or have its own CSS.

Change default site skin: User able to change the default site skin NOT profile skin. Having the user able to make their own site skin is very hard as eric mention to me because of the tons of css involve and other stuff that he mention to me. (maybe a artician pro site skin?)

Pro block on site main page: Just like the user block but this 'PRO block' Will display the latest activity done by the Artician PRO users some ideas: Recent submissions, recent blogs, recent discussions, recent pro users etc..

NOTE: I did not get into detail for each idea but I was already thinking what probably you were "what if".

Some of these ideas or not so professional aimed but just ideas that have poped in my head when I remember more I will post but I wish I will have done this before because I had a lot more ideas

Custom favicon on your userpage.

It'd be cool if on the homepage you could have the thumbnails of your work show up as sets. Like, 4 rows of sets with 5 thumbnails each or something, and you can have arrows on either side to scroll through. Good for people with a wide variety of skills like illustration, graphic design, website design, traditional, and whatever else. More interactive and you can see each different aspect immediately.

Also, like, I don't always upload my work in order or I come back to different projects later so this would be SUPER useful.

Hey, THis might have already been said, but maybe a custom importer allowing users to name and tag images easier, like uploading ten images at a time!
