Designing Tips?

Hello! I've recently gotten into the world of game design and fashion design and to be honest I'm fairly lost. I've got one unexciting design in my gallery, and I was wondering if anyone had any designing tips for me and any of the other designers out there?

Personally I'm mostly a graphic designer, but I have one great tip which has helped me tremendously:

White space is not bad
Simplicity can be the key to success

As for game design, I do mostly texture art and so I probably can't help you with much there
But remember to always plan out maps well
They can make or break a game!

Thank you very much for the pointers! I'll definitely keep them in mind. Yea, one of my main concerns has been maps because I like MMORPG style games and to make them "flow" well and look good at the same time has been difficult.

I can see from your portfolio that you have nice characters and colors, but to be on the fashion side they look kind of simple or generic.
Something that works pretty well is to have a concept and that concept to be two things that are completely different stuff.
Like I will do some clothing for character designs in a fantasy era, I can came up with concepts that are a mixture of Art Nouveau and fishes from the sea.
Or some futuristic characters that I input into the clothing design features for their zodiac sings in colors and textures, like inspire a woman character with a Lion that is something very male.
Mixture of none related concepts can give you a very rich and unique concept to work with and you don't have to tell that you where aiming for Tropical forest birds feather colors, just have something colorful that people don't understand why the colors are so appealing.

Ooooo! I never thought of that before biggrin.gif On top of combining two different things to make it interesting it would also be really fun! Thanks for the tip! And the issue of simplicity comes up again haha
