Artician is currently at a cross roads. On the one hand our community is starting to form up and solidify with a lot of work already finished but on the other hand we have a large list of things we still need to accomplish - from groups, which will help our community grow strong - to prints, which will allow all creative individuals to be successful. But there's still plenty to do on Artician for our small team of web developers.
To illustrate my point here's some statistics,
Users on the site with at least one submission: 216 - Less then 1/5th of all the accounts on the site: 1095
Together, these 216 individuals have submitted 1,925 individual submissions.
Our community by any standard is small but one thing is clear to me: The individuals that do choose to use Artician all feel very passionately that the current status quo of Artistic expression on the Internet does not represent how they feel it should be. That is the gap we are all trying to bridge by allowing creative individuals to have true control of their own artwork and how it is represented on the Internet.
Now...
That being said, we can't do it without you. We can design the best site on the Internet but if no one uses it or participates in it then there's absolutely nothing we can do as developers to make it breath. For that we need you, the users of Artician to help mold and shape the community into what you want it to be. It's not our community, it's your community. Our commitment to not take any outside investment helps us keep it that way. We have all thought about how we would like to do this, or that, to change the Internet. Well, here's your chance. Yes, our community is small but for you, the people who are already members of this community, it is the biggest asset. You have the power to mold this community to be what you want it to be. I appeal to all of you, yes you! Please help us spread the word out that Artician is here to stay and that even in beta we are already offering the absolute best experience to our users - all for free.
So please, talk to your friends and colleagues and help spread the word about the best public art community on the Internet.
