Submission bug, registration bug, and general use bug

Koolstr posted Feb 12 2009, 11:19 PM:
When I first tried to register, in the Username field box, no matter what I entered, it always showed the error message: "This username is not available". But that was with FIrefox. So I switched to Safari and registered through that, and it worked perfectly. (Great job, by the way. ITs fast, easy, and simple. wink.gif )

Also, when I try submitting a design, it would work until I get to the Crop Thumb Panel for the design. Its glitched up, and doesn't work at all. I can't do anything. THe only thing shows is a gray box and the selective area, but you can't change any of it. And the box is above the image. So I tried in Firefox, and instead of glitched up, it just doesn't work. It just shows a loading box, and doesn't load...

Also, this is a biggie for me. Whatever I do in Firefox on your site, it doesn't register. If I Favorite something, it shows it did it, but it never really did when I check. Same with commenting, changing settings, and so on. Basically, I can't use your site in Firefox. But it works perfectly (except for the above glitches) in Safari, so I'm forced to go to your site only in Safari.

Fixing these bugs would be a great help. Thanks.

Just to clear this first, all of us on artician (staff and beta testers) use firefox. He have not experience any problems like you have mention so this is a persona issue with your fire fox. Re-Install firefox and see if that fixes your issues.

Thanks for reporting!

Well... Don't re-install your Firefox right away... As Danny mentioned all of us (the Artician developers) use firefox. The issues you are describing certainly do sound strange.

What version of Firefox you are using?

Do you have any add-ons installed in your Firefox? If so which?

What is your operating system?

Did you try to disable your firewall?

Let us know and we can start debugging. Thank you for the notice, and welcome to Artician happy.gif

Could also be your security settings on firefox itself.

I know I had problems loading the site with internet explorer and found it was some of the security settings and the certificate authentication system.

Deciding I'd had enough of microsofts crap I downloaded Opera. Looks great and haven't had any browser problems yet. smile.gif

I would say, " IN YOUR FACE FIREFOX USERS! ", but I'd be tarred and feathered immediately since there's so many of you that use it here. happy.gif

Well, my Firefox has been having some issues in itself, beyond just your site. Maybe i will reinstall it, since there are too many bugs in it. Something happened that messed up my Firefox....So I'm going to have to reset it. It annoys me, because I had a lot on it, but something happened and its completely messed up.

So I may be able to fix that problem myself....But the problem with uploading in Safari is what I still have an issue with. If you can somehow fix that, that would be great.

Sure, can you please explain the issues you are having with the submit feature? Is it only with the cropping tool?

Yep. Well, not the cropping tool. Its the selector for the section of the image used in the preview.

Everything else works perfectly.

The crop tool has had some work done on it, so that part of this bug report my not be relevant anymore.

Thanks. I completely erased Firefox from my computer, including all of the data files, and everything works perfectly on FF again. All of the previous bugs I've had with MANY things are now all gone. What was a pain, though, was getting all of my addons and bookmarks and such back... sad.gif

It seems now I can only upload a custom preview, and can't upload a selection of the image at all. That was a lot easier, and now that I have Firefox working again, it would be nice to have that back... sad.gif

What do you mean you cannot upload a selection of an image? Is there still issues?

No, its not an issue, just the lack of a feature. Before you just "Fixed" my previous issue with Safari: after you upload the image, there was an option to select an area of the uploaded image to use as the "preview". Now, you removed that selection feature. Now you can only upload you own preview.
I liked the option where I could easily select a section of hte image, rather than opening up Photoshop (or whatever), selecting a part, measuring the size, cropping, saving, and then uploading.

Well, Basically, If you try uploading an image that is too small for the cropper (under 150px by 150px) it wont show up... and it wont show up if the browser is unsupported. The reason why this is, is because our thumbnails are 150x150 and 75x75... they need to be able to fit in both thumbnails. Since the cropper is created to thumbnail the 150x150 images, it will not let you re-size it if its smaller then that. It's to prevent the cropper from breaking. In this case, you will have to upload a preview manually.

Ah, I understand. I was trying to upload a tag I made, which is probably 135px. Thanks though, now I understand. And sorry for the inconvenience.

You can close this thread now.

And thanks again. wink.gif
