What tablet do you use?

Random question, I'm curious to know everyone's tools of the trade.

I've been using an Intuos3 for a year now, but I've just ordered an Intuos4, Medium, and cannot wait to receive it! biggrin.gif I'd love a Cintiq, but I'm waiting until they release one with a higher level of pressure sensitivity, like the Intuos4.

Having that said, please share what you use and how it works for you. smile.gif

I have an 8 inch Intuos3 and I absolutely love it. My first tablet was a little 5 inch ... something I can't even remember the brand of, so obscure. Having to replace the AAAA batteries in the pen was a total pain.

Was so excited to get my intuos. On occassion I notice a little twitch in one area of the tablet... so I need to change my position on the screen to draw the line properly. So it got damaged somehow but it is far from unusable. I love the texture of the surface.

But I have never used the other nibs that came with it. .. the springy one and the marker one? They are totally lost by now. Anybody else use those?

I have a bamboo fun medium, 512 pressure levels, does it's job, not too big, not too small..

I'd love an intuos, but at the moment they are out of my price range!

Oh yes, the Intuos3 certainly is a treasure, I've fallen in love with mine. smile.gif

And as far as nibs go, I've never used the spring nib, just the regular ones and I thought I'd give the felt nib a try just a couple weeks ago. Really, I haven't noticed a performance difference, just a texture and feel difference when moving it along the tablet. The default nibs are really smooth, some people even complain that it is too smooth and doesn't feel natural, but I was always content with it. The felt nib will make it feel much more like real pencil on paper, it's got a slight grittiness when drawing. I like that as well.

It basically depends on what you're comfortable with, and if the default nibs are working out well for you, then there really is no reason to change it.

@imthinkingoutloud. My first tablet was a Bamboo Fun Small, and wow, I loved it. biggrin.gif Had lots of good times drawing with it, and that little thing sure packs a punch!

I recently bought my first tablet, an 8x6 inch Trust. It was the only one I could afford but it works wonderfully for me. So much better than the mouse I've been using for the last 3 years.

Intuos3 however big it is with the strip and buttons on both sides. I think at least one of my touch strips has died. I can't justify the expenditure for an Intuos4 but dammit I want one! Need to work more smile.gif

I just got my intuos4 today and it is a DREAM! biggrin.gif I'm surprised at how smooth it is, and the pressure sensitivity is insane. I've got to get used to it, but wow, it will definitely be a huge benefit. smile.gif

Yeah, what I'm used to is the smoothest Pilot Precise Fine V5 Rolling Ball pen on paper ... so it feels very similar. I never liked the traditional ballpoint pen where you have to apply pressure, and I don't use pencil much ... with this I can just lightly drag it across and that's what I love. So it transfers preeeetty well to the computer ..

But a cintiq would be super neat. I have a tablet PC (Fujitsu Stylistic) .. it's originally designed to be used as a clipboard sort of thing for medical places or things like that, but I obvs use it for art and it works pretty well! It's definitely different working directly onto the screen .. hard to get used to the angle though, like the pressure area is higher up than the screen, so it's sort of like drawing on a .. mirror (knowwhatimean?). But I definitely find I have more control over my wrist and therefore the end image. I don't know how much different the Cintiq is.

I have one too and have had it for a while. I would like a skinnier pen though! anddddd, I can't find any replacement
tips. gahhhhhh have you found them? I've checked their site and no luck. I'm also wondering if a different pen
would be compatible. Let me know if you have info on that. (only mine is the 12000)
