ok well, im really only use to shading skin as you can tell (if you've looked at my portfolio) and well I decided to take a traditional drawing i made of a beautiful lamborghini and redo it using Pshop.

And well perhaps its the lack of patience i had considering I already drew it.. or perhaps i got tired of trial and error.

My problem im having here is that no matter what I tried my car is severely lacking that mettallic shine to it. here is a link to it (its on my profile but this is easier for you) I need you! I need some of your knowledge on what I could do to give it a more car/shiney look. please lend a word of advice because im lacking any more ideas on how to make it more realistic like.

>.>and yes it gets bigger <.< lol

thanks for your help, whatever help i get I'll use on my next car which might be a remake of a nissan 350z that is already in my portfolio.. but that one came out HORRIBLE color wise hehe.... anyways im rambling..

I don't know if you were already but use the soft edge not pressure sensitive brush, and don't be afraid to give it some vicious highlights? smile.gif All theoretical knowledge, I am not very good at cars!

the side panels look fairly shiny, its the front end thats spoiling it.

to me it looks like your using a brush with too soft an edge, it needs to have a harder edge as gloss reflects almost like a mirror. (your wheel arches look good in that respect)

try and find a google image of the same lambo in the same 3/4 shot and check out the lighting on it to see what i mean

from a quick google i've noticed that the 'shiny' photo's are artificially lit and 'set up' as the natural photo's show a very subdued paint. You'll have to trawl google, find the 'shiny' images that best suit the look your going for and imitate the gloss reflections that give you the best result.

thanks i appreciate your time! I modeled the car off a real photo when i drew it on paper. Even though it was only drawn in pencil it looked more realistic than my digital version. I didn't even think of using a hard brush (as you noticed) lol. I guess im only used to shading skin were I mostly just smudge the living crap out of a bunch of colors. Im thinking about redoing the color layer with a hard brush and see if I can make it better. Thanks again I thought softer was better but not in this case huh!

ive never been good at shiny things haha
