Fedora?

Hey, I've recently been reading more into the open source Linux based operating system called Fedora, and I am intrigued. I have a lot of questions those, so hopefully someone here is familiar with many aspects of operating systems as I am not -is ashamed- so I need some help. Basically I run Windows XP, so first I would like to know how hard is the 'transition' to Fedora? Also, will all my files easily transfer and things of that nature? Will I have a choice to run Fedora or XP when I start my computer? Also, it is open source; are there many modifications such as 'skins' for it and other customizable options available across the web? Are there any alternatives that you find more interesting then Fedora?

I believe that is all for now, again thanks to anyone who can help out, as it is much appreciated. I am interested in straying away from XP a bit and I love open source software.

Thanks,
Dylan

Apple's iTunes has been advancing on the way of DRM-free for its online music service, while the Nokia Music Store, another mirror of iTunes' business modle, is now lagging behind the prevailing current of digital music service once again. Here this tutorial is going to talk about how to remove DRM from Nokia Music Store and Comes With Music Service.

Love affair between DRM and Nokia Music Store

1. All the music downloaded from Nokis Music Store are DRM-protected WMA files, which is publicly stated on Nokia Music Support, you can find the detailed info from the "Support" section from Nokia's offcial website.

2. Your usage rights is also confined as what the Nokia Music Store authorized:

3. "Comes With Music" is actually "Comes With DRM"

The bundled sale of Nokia N97, N96, N95 8GB, N85, N79, XpressMusic 5800 / 5320 / 5310 / 5220 and the "Comes With Music Service" is only Nokia's another promotion tricks to eat more market share. The music donwloaded through Comes With Music can't be transfer to other devices or burn to CD without license.

How to remove DRM from Nokia Music Store

This DRM Converter is tailor-made to remove DRM license from Nokia Music Store. It can also strip DRM license from protected music video movie from iTunes, Zune MarketPlace, Napster, Rhapsody, Spiralfrog, Bearshek, eMusic, Puretracks, MusicGiants, convert the protected WMA songs to Nokia playable MP3, AAC, WMA, M4A.

1. When come to the main interface, you can directly drag-drop target music file to the conversion window, or hit the top-left 'Add' button to import the target files, it supports batch conversion. Then click 'setting' to choose output format you like, as well as the bit rate. (192 Kbps WMA is recommended)

3. After that, click 'start' button lower-right on the main window, conversion will soon be done, then you can freely share or transfer songs from Nokia Music Store without any ristriction!

What if you want to play DVD movie on Nokia smartphone

If you want to transfer DVD movie to Nokia, this DVD Ripper + Video Converter can help to crack DVD CSS protection, split DVD movie to clips, and convert them to Nokia compatible audio & video formats.

If you're a Mac-based user, this iMedia Converter for Mac is an ideal choice.

The conversion process is the same easy and simple as illustrated above, here I just saved it.

Tips:

The DRM Removal and DVD Ripper software mentioned above can do even more jobs by converting all the popular media formats like M4P, M4B, M4V, WMV, ASF, WMA, MP4, M4A, AVI (Divx/Xvid), MOV, 3GP, 3G2, CD.dat, DVD.vob, h.264, HD(.m2ts; .tp; .trp; .ts), HD(.mp4; .wmv; .asf; .mpg; .vob; .mov; avi), DV, NSV, NUT, Real audio & video(.rm; .ra; .ram; .rmvb), FLV, FLAC, AIFF, SWF, MPG, MP3, AC3, OGG, APE, AAC, WAV, MKV, MKA, etc.

They support not only Nokia phone, but also the other digital player as iPod, iPhone, PSP, PS3, Zune, Xbox, Creative Zen, Archos, Iriver, Sansa, Blackberry, Samsung, Sonywalkman, Nokia, HTC, LG, Moto, Cowon, Pocket PC, etc

Enjoy your digital life!

Kongoni releases 1.12.2-alpha, codenamed Sophocles

The Kongoni GNU/Linux project is proud to announce the availability of an alpha release of version 1.12.2. The release is named Sophocles after the philosopher often referred to as the father of modern thought as it represents the first release that is really uniquely kongoni.

At heart, Kongoni is a desktop focussed GNU/Linux distribution with significant inspiration from the BSD-unix systems. The system is based on slackware 12.2 with the latest upstream patches and also features KDE 4.2.2 as well as the latest stable releases of most common desktop applications such as OpenOffice.org. Like it's BSD ideological ancestors Kongoni does not provide add-on software as binary packages but rather as ports. This means the system contains an automated tool that fetches the source code for requested programs (including dependencies) then compiles it locally and builds a package which gets installed.

Read More

Hey, I think this is right place to post this although this might go under hardware as well.

Thing is, I'm getting my Fujitsu t4220 this week and I'm gonna be mostly using it for Photoshop so I was wondering how to set up my scratch disks. Since I don't have an option of having a dedicated hard drive on the laptop for a scratch disk I was wondering I should set up one of the memory card reader slots as a dedicated scratch disk, and would it be faster then using a single partitioned hard drive. This tablet has following card readers:

Type I/II PCMCIA slot, 32-bit PC CardBus architecture;
One Smart Card slot;
One shared slot for Memory Stick®, Memory Stick PRO™, or Secure Digital (SD) card

And I will probably be getting a faster hard drive the the one it comes with, something like Seagate, Samsung, or Hitachi. (to be decided soon)
