This fall, HUGO Fragrances turns downtown Manhattan into a spectacular outdoor gallery. Celebrating the richness and diversity of today’s creative scene, the hand painted outdoor gallery is a platform for top notch creative talents who submitted works in the HUGO Create contest.

Since its launch in February 2008, HUGO Create has quickly made its name in the creative communities around the world. The iconic nature of the HUGO Man bottle has inspired thousands to create their own interpretation of the HUGO universe. Today, the HUGO web gallery includes over 35,000 visuals in a broad range of styles & techniques - from photo manipulations to vector illustrations and analogue artworks.

The HUGO Fragrances Manhattan Gallery showcases a selection of the winning HUGO Create visuals. So, if you are in Manhattan this fall, check out the Lower East Side, Soho and Greenwich Village and discover the extraordinary works of the HUGO Create community in the domains of graphic design, illustration and photography.

Hugo Fragrances invites talented artists from all-over the world to participate in Round 7 of HUGO Create, based on the theme Past, Present and Future.
Remember the past, live the present, look to the future & mix it all up in one amazing visual.

We are looking for as much innovative design, illustration, painting and photography as you can muster. This is a true exploration of your creativity, a challenge to create your own interpretation of the HUGO universe - your opportunity to show the world your talent, skills and strong ideas.
You can use the technique(s) of your choice: pixel, vector, mixed media, drawings, painting, photography, etc…

For the Round 7 theme, Past, Present and Future, elements of time will play a central role (alongside the iconic HUGO Man bottle). This round is all about commemorating the past, celebrating the present and creating the future. Participants are challenged to create powerful and unique visuals, based on elements or ideas inspired by past-present-future features and concepts. Every artwork should contain the three elements of time - mixing past, present & future into a masterful puzzle of experiences. Find inspiration in history & vintage art, merge it with up-to-date culture and elements of the far distant future. Mix the vibe: create a visual that can stand alongside the great artworks of the ages… but is also meaningful today and to the generations to come.

Start with a blank (computer) canvas or use the HUGO Generator - an interactive design template. The HUGO bottle and logo can be downloaded from the submit page of the website, HUGO Create. Visuals must be submitted as RGB JPG (max. 0.5 MEmotion: cool.gif, 672 pixels large x 960 pixels high. Each participant may enter a max. of five artworks per round.

The top 10 artworks (as voted HUGO Create website visitors and a professional jury) will be awarded with a cash prize of $500 US and tons of recognition. The work of the 1st prize winner of each round will be featured in i-D magazine.

The deadline for Round 7 is February 1, 2009 and winners will be announced on March 1, 2009.
