Looking back I can not actually fathom that one, this site has been around since '04, and two, that I have been a member since '06. It could be the fact that i have given dA most of my attention, and that I only browse the site. But since Eric sent a message out to all the members of the Beta Tests, I thought what the hell and started spending some time here.

I do find that the site IS a bit hard to navigate at first glance, but the edit and customize section is way easier to comprehend than Devi's. What Eric has done through out the comprehensive code, to which I had the pleasure of seeing. The whole site in general seems to be more fluid and laid back than deviantarts. Now I am not bashing them, I know most people found this site through dA one way or another, but everything is so easy to find. I dont have to back track just to edit my profile. It is all here in blue and white.

I will try to come into greater detail in the coming days, but I think this will have to do for now.

...since I've done anything here. Sorry I've been gone. it was mostly because I hadn't done anything in a while, but then I spilled cranberry juice on my laptop and it was sort of dead for a while. My dad (with my help) fixed it, basically just taking it apart, cleaning the components, and put it back together. Anywho, I've created a bit more work since the beginning of the school year, so i'll be posting soon. Just not tonight. Because I'm tired. And I should probably go to sleep soon. So goodnight

So, to start us off with a fresh blog. I dont suppose anyone except potential employers would read this, so rather than writing for you i will write this for me. To keep me motivated.

So whats new? I finally got 3D Studio Max 2010 installed. First thing to do was to fiddle around creating some basic stuff. So i wanted to try out the viewport shading. It was kinda a disappointment but i mean comon? Can i really expect global illumination in realtime yet?

Answer is no, but still its shows Specular hotspots and materials beeing changed in realtime, aswell as some basic lighting model. Of cource its just an aproximation but it dosnt help that much.

Another thing i found was that since the UI was completly reformed i have lots of new way to destoy a perfect scene via options i didnt know excist. Let me explain. I tried a day and light lighting setup just to get some basic stuff going, and in my render viewport i get pure bright lighting all over.

Hurrm that not really what i was going for. But after some back and forth worth i realized what i had done wrong to upset Max.

Anywho, enough with this, i wanna get to some modelling. So if you have any suggestions on what i can do just give me a PM all you non readers out there. Until then i will be working on a Dreadnaught from the Warhammer 40k universe.

I have uploaded some of my game related stuff on my portfolio, but this will be all CG and the Poly count will be blown out the water.

Hey everyone!

I thought I should start blogging, and I'm in one of those rambling modes. So yeah, I'm going to ramble my guts out right now, so click that little do-hicky button, that takes you back to the page before hand, if you don't wanna read my whining and annoying complaints on the first blog evarrr done by me.

Alrightie. So first one off the hit list, I know you're probably thinking, why is Technology my worst enemy, it is because a few months ago, my laptop decided that a hardware malfunction would be a fun prank to pull, and killed itself. So I gave the people who I bought it off, -Harvey Norman- a call, and told them about it, so they pushed me down the line, *since they don't wanna deal with it. apparently nothing is their fault * to Acer, the manufacturer of this laptop. I know right? Why did I buy one? Anywhooo.. So I called them, and they said they were doing a call back for the model of which, mine was. They said to drop it off at this joint in the city, and in two weeks it would be sent to the Acer repair centre in Sydney NSW. I was like, alrightie. So off it went. 3 weeks later, and I haven't heard a thing from Acer, or even seen my laptop, so I give the people who I dropped it too, a call. They're like, "Oh, sorry. The guy who picks it up to take it to Sydney didn't know where the building was, and forgot about it. he'll take it down next week." What P***ed me off the most about this, is that it hasn't even LEFT the building that I took it too, in THREE weeks. How hard is that to do?! D: Another week later, I give them a call. And you know what they tell me?! That they don't even know if it's in the COUNTRY anymore. Oh sure, that's okay, just go loose my laptop worth $1,200 Aus, in some weird foreign country. And they're being cool about it, and were like, "oh, we'll search for it and give you a call tomorrow." Yeah, fat chance. Still haven't heard from them, and that was two days ago. I'm starting to wonder if it'll ever come back to me.

NEXT complaint. *since not many people would be still reading on I guess.*

So just before my laptop said its final words, I managed to get my beloved Paint Shop Pro 9 off it, onto my usb. The thing was though, its a copy i got off the school computers, and they've locked those files off now, so I can't get another one. So I got to use it on my main computer for about... 2 days, and then windows is like, "ermm. Your python libraries are missing.." I think everyone in my house looked at me weird, cause I was quite literally yelling at the computer to shove their python libraries where the sun don't shine.. And that its gotta be kidding me, after having so much hope for SAVING it in the first place, and it doesn't even last long enough for a good project. And I was looking in C:/ drive for the phython libraries, I found them! And they were fine, but for some reason Windows didn't and refused to use them.

So then, to go with this complaint, how hard is it, to find a good Corel PSP to download?!?! Even if it's a trial, I neeeed a photo manip program or I swear I'll go crazy. Forget Adobe, I gave up on photoshop.. And yeah, so then I had to download GIMP for a project I was doing (Cd label, front and back sleeve/jacket) and the stupid computer kept lagging that I had to take a whole THREE days to draw one image. What the hell d00d. What the hell. What else can I say about stupid programs like this.. Aha, I have downloaded PSP X2 ultimate, 30 day trial, and I was seriously stoked, cause that would give me enough time to save up for the legit program at JB HIFI or something, but the second day that I had it, opened it, did something, closed it, opened it again two seconds later, and its like, trial days have exceeded. it was a major, "...." moment. And I think I almost had a break down... STUPID COMPUTERRR

Um so that's my rant for the moment, but the good thing that has come out of all this, is that, my CD thing got done in time.. (finished it 2 hrs before it was due. ahha) and that the computer has decided to stop its stoopid lagging fits, my camera has awesome pixel-age (my new word (: ) and I have a concert to go to in a week and a bit! Short stack, woooohooo. (doesn't really care that they are selling out to all the teeny boopers, but hey, paid the money already, better go enjoy the show!)

Deveopers are continuing to work on optimizing memory use (by releasing cached objects more quickly) and reducing fragmentation.
