Hampton Court Palace in Richmond by danielhenry088

Richmond and its surrounding areas of Hampton and Kew are a breath of fresh air compared to many parts of London which are dirty, grey, ugly and over-crowded. Central London is still only a short commute away thanks to the frequent and fast transport connections in the form of overground trains, the tube, buses or by using a Richmond taxi company - of which there are many. Thats why the area is so popular with professionals who wish to enjoy the best of both worlds: city living and peace and tranquility.

On a bright summers day Richmond and Kew truly are beautiful places to visit. Whether you simply want to enjoy a picnic in the park, visit a historical site, or have a relaxing drink with friends in one of the many bars and cafes that line the river, there is something for everyones taste.

Attractions in Richmond and Surroundings

Hampton Court Palace

The home of the notorious King Henry VIII, this beautiful Tudor building and its picture perfect gardens are a huge tourist attraction and a must see. Take a trip back in time as you walk through the palace and see how the Tudor nobility used to live.

Kew Gardens

Taxis in Richmond can take you from the train station to Kew Botanical Gardens. Here you can enjoy a glorious display of botany from all over the globe. A must-see and a breath of fresh air for the weathered and tired Londoner.

Richmond Park

A place of fond childhood memories, this is a great place to take the kids and walk the dog. On a good day you might see the resident deer, the former prey of fanatical huntsman, King Henry VIII. Another great find is the Isabella Plantation, a carefully tendered ornamental woodland preserve which is full of exotic plants, beautiful running streams, ponds and koi fish.

Kingston Riverside

Private hire Richmond taxis can take you from the Kingston Network Rail station to the riverside. Here you will find a cluster of inexpensive but pleasant restaurants with enough variety for any taste. Not in the mood for food? Then why not enjoy a coffee or something a little stronger in one of the many cafes and bars with outdoor terraces and river views.

Shopping In Kingston

Kingston is your best bet for shopping in this part of London/Surrey. A high street is dotted with all the usual brand names while The Bentall Centre offers several hundred more stores along with a food village on the top level, for when the weathers not so good!

Author information:

Daniel Henry is a writer of online articles.
Explore the Forgotten Parts of Paddington by danielhenry088

The district of Paddington in Central London is best known for London Paddington Station. Located in the borough of Westminster this rail transport terminus provides connections for commuters and visitors to a variety of London destinations. For those wanting to get to Heathrow Airport by a cheaper mode of transport then a Paddington Station taxi, then by rail it only takes twenty minutes. Previously existing as a port for freight cargo trains in the 19th and the early 20th century, today Paddington provides transport for commuters, tourists and holidaymakers. The station is well known throughout the country and abroad, by many people. Whether or not they have visited here, people know of the station due to the fictional bear Paddington in the series of books by Michael Bond. The adventures of this little Peruvian bear were adapted for television, capturing the hearts of many children and adults. These lovable stories followed the adventures of A Bear Called Paddington (the name of the first story released). Its worth taking a taxi to Paddington Station just to see the bronze statue of Paddington Bear. Here you can see him kitted out in his floppy hat, duffel coat ans suitcase, just as you would expect.

Once youve arrived at Paddington Station, there is a lot more to see and do in the area. It is understandable to not think there is much more to Paddington then the station, but you wont be disappointed. There are all kinds of bars, restaurants and cafes to try out. Why not jump in a cab from Piccadilly Station and head to one of the many comfortable hotels and guest houses in the area? If you are after a more luxurious stay, then you might be spoilt for choice. There is a Hilton hotel, as well as B&Bs that deliver a high standard of accommodation. There are a number of art galleries and museums to visit, if you are a fan of the arts. A short taxi ride away is the Italian Gardens. This beautiful and picturesque outdoors space is definitely worth a visit. The Italianate architecture of the nearby buildings and the regality of the gardens would have you mistake the area for a distance European country. The Italian Garden foundations are breathtaking and it is quite something to have such well maintained and looked after green-land in the heart of the city. Go and experience this charm and appeal for yourself and see.

Author information:

Daniel Henry (BA (hons) Journalism and PG Dip in Professional and Creative Writing) is a professional writer of short articles and blogs.

Euston Station is located in the London Borough of Camden, nearby to popular destinations Russell Square, Camden Town and Kings Cross St Pancras. This main Network Rail terminus was Londons first inner-city railway station that provided journeys from London to other destinations throughout the country. Originally opened in 1837 with only two platforms, it now has 18 platforms serving destinations all across the UK. This centrally located station is ideal when travelling here from other London locations. There are good transport links to the station from the rest of the city.

Euston Station is connected to the London Underground system, so there are connections on the Northern and Victoria line. There are a number of bus routes that are situated out the front of the station, providing alternative onward travel options. Taxis in Euston line up outside the main entrance and exit too, so you can be sure to hail a ride to your final destination. For those that are waiting to take a train from Euston to their chosen destination, there is a number of outlets to wait in. Whether you are doing so because you are a tad early for the train or because delays have held you up, there is a pub, cafes and shops to while away the time.

Many people that use the cross-railway are commuters, travelling long distances for work and business matters. With Euston Station being one of the largest hubs for transport across the lengths and breadths of the UK, many people rely on this transportation. Destinations from Euston include the West Midlands, the North West, Wales, Scotland and the South. Euston rail travel is a reliable and fast way to keep connected with the rest of the UK. Euston Station minicabs provide a relied upon mode of transport by commuters to take them to business offices located nearby.

Train travel is the most effective mode of transport for many reasons. There are those that dont regularly use train travel and just do so on occasions when perhaps visiting family and friends. People prefer to use train travel because the speedy service takes nearly half the time of driving. Depending how long your train journey is and where you have travelled from you may be feeling quite tired. If you want the last leg of your journey to be as smooth and as stress free as possible, book a Euston Station cab. That way you can get home in no time at all without the hassle of lugging heavy bags and luggage.

Author information:

Daniel Henry (BA (hons) Journalism and PG Dip in Professional and Creative Writing) is a professional writer of short articles and blogs. When the sun shines these silver skyscrapers can be seen gleaming from many parts of the capital.

The district of Canary Wharf is also part of the Londons Docklands development. Once a busy port for cargo not only in the UK, but also the whole of Europe and other parts of the world. Up until the mid 1960s, the port carried shipments to and from the capital, however by 1980 the Docklands closed for service. It was eight years later in 1988 when the first constructions of Canary Wharf began. The area now has exists as quarters for some of the most notable banks, law firms and media companies.

Commuters journeying to this business district can do so by many different modes of transport. The area is well connected with transport links via train, bus, taxi to Canary Wharf and even boat. Canary Wharf station has links on the DLR (Docklands Light Rail) and London Underground. Take the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf tube station or book an E1 taxi to the area. You can also travel across the water from Canary Wharf Pier via boat to the City of London, Embankment and also the Surrey Quays.

As well as being an area bustling business area it also has plenty of shops, bars, restaurants for recreational activities. An evening of entertainment in this dazzling district will be an enjoyable experience for any couple, business traveller or tourist. Take a ride in a Canary Wharf taxi from the nearby London City Airport and stay in one of the many hotels in the area. If you are visiting for business purposes youll be happy to hear that there is everything that you might need on your trip.

The thriving leisure and recreational commerce in Canary Wharf details the areas popularity with not only business travellers but with visitors looking for a more quality and high-brow shopping district. Those with a bit of cash to splash will love visiting this lavish location. However, if you are looking for more of a relax and pamper experience then you may want to take advantage of the exclusive health and sports clubs. You may prefer to put your feet up and relax rather than hit the town on an evening. For the opportunity to enjoy other aspects of the leisure and entertainment scene there are also cinema and theatres in the area. This contemporary quarter is not only great for the business elite, but also those who love to socialise in style.

Author informationaniel Henry (BA (hons) Journalism and PG Dip in Professional and Creative Writing) is a professional writer of short articles and blogs.
Situated in south-west London between Kew and Richmond, is the most delightful place to visit, Kew Gardens. These Royal Botanical Gardens are a wonderful place to spend an evening exploring its history, heritage and horticulture. Those with a fondness for flowers, plants and all things outdoors will enjoy adventuring around this wide open space. Even when the country is a mixture of sunshine and showers, it is worthy of a visit.

The gardens, boasting the worlds largest display of living plants and flowers. There are even preservation greenhouses holding some of the most precious of specimens. Respected as being an attraction and notable place in both London and the country, many people journey to take in its setting. If you are lucky enough to live not too far from the gardens, and have yet to visit, why not take a Kew Gardens taxi and see for yourself? You can read a multitude of literature on this picturesque, tranquil place, but nothing compares to experiencing it first hand.

However, it isnt just the gardens that attracts many a visitor to the area. Having a prestigious heritage, of many dukes and duchesses residing here, is a notable reason why many wish to find out more about Kews history. When you choose to visit Kew, there isnt an opportunity for boredom to strike. Opting to journey in a taxi to Kew Gardens and its surrounding area, you will have the opportunity to capture the sights and surroundings. This includes, Kew Palace. Understandably forgotten, in the grand scheme of things, the palace is a small part of what is a large space, cover 121 hectares.

If you want to make a day of it, consider this an opportunity to exercise those legs, keep fit and take in the fresh outdoors. The vast open space may seem daunting to those who arent used to getting out and exploring, but once you get started, youll realise that you can thoroughly enjoy yourself. If you would rather learn from the experts, then you can take one of their guided tours around the grounds, conducted by trained volunteers. You can easily spend a substantial amount of time here, what with the many attractions there are here. Including the palace, grounds, museum, gallery and much much more. At the end of the day, when you have seen just about all there is to see, you may wish to call from a minicab from Kew Gardens. Youll probably have done enough walking for one day! An adventure in Kew is not to be ignored, youre sure to enjoy yourselves.

Author information:

Daniel Henry (BA (hons) Journalism and PG Dip in Professional and Creative Writing) is a professional writer of short articles and blogs.
Becoming A Volunteer In Vietnam, Cambodia Or Thailand- Great Opportunities For Gaining Special Exper by volunteerinvietnam

In this current trend of lifestyle in which immediate satisfaction, wider access to information and quantity over quality have greater significance, there is something to be said for the expression you get what you give." Unfortunately, the principles of putting in a hard days work and earning your keep are being replaced with ideas like work smart, not hard. While these values serve a particular purpose in todays society, driving innovation and forcing people to develop easier ways to complete tasks, we should never forget the rewards of compromising on your precious time for the sake of others.

Luckily, if youre looking for an opportunity to devote your time, there is no scarcity of organizations which will guide you do so. From animal shelters that require people to foster sick animals and nurse them back to health, to nursing homes that require people to simply spend time socializing with their elderly residents, volunteer opportunities await willing people around every corner. But what if youre searching for something more special? Youre in luck. For those who have exhausted the list of typical volunteer prospects, or simply crave more hard hitting experience, there are organizations to meet these needs.

By participating in an international volunteering program, individuals are able to help developing countries with limited access to volunteers, while also getting an experience unlike any other. Organizations such as International Volunteering HQ allow individuals to volunteer in Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and a several other exciting locations. This organization was founded with the intention of providing flexible, safe, and reasonably priced opportunities to volunteer in Thailand and other foreign countries. Unlike many other organizations that offer opportunities to volunteer abroad, International Volunteering HQ does not have a 12 month minimum time commitment. In fact, if you would like to volunteer in Vietnam or another overseas location, there are programs which are as short as one week, permitting participants to turn a holiday into a lifetime experience.

Volunteers are given the opportunity to choose activities which are suitable to their specific skill sets, from teaching in areas with limited access to educational resources, to helping out in an orphanage, to assisting with human rights causes, and also assisting with computer support. These programs are two-way useful, as residents of these communities enjoy the benefits of the special skill sets volunteers bring, and volunteers reap the rewards of experiencing a foreign culture in a way that few will ever be in a position to experience it. So for those who have faith in the ideals of putting in the necessary work to gain rewards, volunteering abroad provides an experience unlike any other.

((This is, frankly, just as a posterity thing. I want to have this kicking around.))

So.

I feel like I owe my dA journal a quick rundown of what happened.

So I get to the airport, and I'm nervous as hell, as per usual. I figure that a healthy level of nerves is appropriate, but this is hardly healthy. My heart is beating like a drum and my legs are shaking like they're made of leaves and paper in a strong wind. But this is normal. I've done this before.

So we think the flight is a bit late, but then people start coming out. I remember what he said he'd be wearing, and each time someone slightly matches his description my heart explodes. I think it's lucky I'm still alive, what with how much I'm pretty sure I kept dying o.o

But then he shows up, and I'm like "that's him." Mom says nothing, and I say it again, pretending like it was so she'd hear, but actually it was to calm me the fuck down or I was going to do something incredibly stupid.

There's a sign over the gate, and it says that nobody is allowed into the place where he was. So I make my way through the crowd, catch his eye, panic, drop my gaze, and wait. Eventually, some people were just like "SCREW THE RULES I HAVE LOVED ONESSSS" and they went under the gate. So I mumbled "fuckit" to assure myself I wasn't breaking any rules without a level of badassery first, wended my way through the crowd, and strode towards him.

The hug that followed was one of the best hugs I've ever had.

I pretty much told him, I knew he'd be good at hugging. He gives the best kind, the warm, strong kind. Like good tea.

I basically had no idea who he was, at the moment. Only a vague idea of how he acted, based on things. But it was much better to be in person with him. I held on to him for a while, worried that if I let go I'd wake up, but then I eventually let go. I was so nervous that his smallest movements or facial expressions filled me with worry and fear about myself, about him, and whether or not he was okay with this. So I was basically dying to ask questions I couldn't possibly put voice to.

After that, things were good. Mom made him do a bunch of work, and I got to watch him put a desk together. It's pretty neat to watch him work, because he's...... fast. There's no other way to put it. He just does it o.o (probably could have done my job in half the time)

I had a lay down on the couch for about five seconds before he came out and joined me :3

My fears were quieted some in those moments I spent with him. But they dissipated entirely as the week went on.

The first night pretty much cemented a few vital points. Like, for instance, for the duration of the visit, I was to share a bed with him. We "fell asleep talking" downstairs, and I slept comfortably. It takes a bit of adjusting, when you're sharing a bed with someone. (He kind of jerks randomly when he sleeps, and has the same habit I used to have, where he'll answer someone he thinks is talking to him when he's half-awake. I still do that, sometimes ._.)

After the first night, I got used to it. Probably from being so content, and getting an appropriate amount of sleep so that I am actually tired when it rolls around to it.

The next couple days were basically me showing him video games I had, running around in a rented car doing things, and cuddling randomly while either playing video games or just in general. We also did a few favours for Mom, occasionally. I had so much fun with him. He's great to do just about anything with, because he'll try anything once, and that turned out a lot better than I thought it would. I just dragged him everywhere

His mannerisms take a bit of getting used to. He tends to be very deliberate about the things he does, and it took me a bit to read him properly. He's honestly like no one I've ever met, and I love it :3

Played some DnD, bought some games, and I sent some back with him.

He accompanied me to my grandparents' 50th anniversary, where I had delicious foods at a cafe then spent the next little bit mixing drinks (literal alcoholic ones this time X3) in their basement behind the bar. I made conversation with Kylie's boyfriend, who's a pretty fun guy, and as per usual I ended up hanging with the dudes away from most of the action. 'Cause that's how I roll. Antisociallike.

To be honest, me and him spent most of the time at the party joined at the hip, talking to each other, foreheads pressed together. We kept the kissing to a minimum, out of respect.

After a while, you really stop giving a shit what other people think. I tend to have a sense of decorum damn near literally drilled into my head from my mother, so I get all sensitive about the opinions of people, when I honestly shouldn't -_-

When the fuck have the opinions of people done me any good? Never. Not ever. So, fuck em. Boyfriend wants to get all close and start making out under a tree in Niagra Falls? Let's do it. Shit I'll pull the coat off, get the rain in on this action.

Speaking of which, we went to Niagra Falls. For the first time since I was a kid.

We took pictures, too. Of the Falls, the Maid of the Mist, and the Horseshoe, as well as some bits of the tourist strip and a pretty gorgeous image I got of the casino cloaked with fog. Funny enough, it looks like the pictures we took of ourselves in front of the Falls... the flash went off just the right way to make it look like we had just pasted ourselves in front of a picture, lmfao. So there was a lot of joking about that X3

It started to rain really hard while we were there, and we took shelter in several places. Firstly was a Montana's, for breakfast. The staff was comprised of a few surly cunts (which is, of course, what I've come to expect from a Montana's). We got a breakfast buffet and I ate so much, and I drew all over the table, cause I forgot you could draw on tables at a Montana's. That's one reason why I love going there. Then the rain stopped, we paid, and left.

The second place we took shelter was first under a tree, with his coat as protection (where we made out for a bit, naturally), then we sprinted to this little building type thing.

Whoever was selling some glorified garbage bag coats was most likely making a killing that day. They became the New Wave Nuns, Sinister Sisters of Sacrifice (which culminated in us writing the best episode of Doctor Who EVER). There were a whole bunch in the building, which we jokingly referred to as a church. There was some graffiti that said "John + Astra" in a heart. I pointed it out, looked at him and went "I DON'T KNOW WHO JOHN IS"

We decided to wait until the rain would let up, then sprint to the next saferoom. It felt like L4D2, if the zombies were rain and there were only 2 survivors. Also I couldn't sprint very well in a skirt D:

We eventually got to the car just as the typhoon set in, and Dan fucking DEER LEAPS over this slippery garden surface. I look at the rain coating it and go "If I try that fucking parkour shit, I will die", so I went around, and we got in the car. We were honestly soaked through to the skin. We put the heat on, and I dried off my clothes, if barely. We popped into EO and got me some stuff (because he is a WONDERFUL BOYFRIEND who I will NEED TO MAKE/BUY A GIFT FOR WHICH I DO BELIEVE HE WILL LOVE <3)

The worst day of my life was him leaving. We saw "Despicable Me", which was such an awesome film, then we went home and cuddled in bed. I actually started crying ._.

I don't cry. It's not me. It makes me feel weak, and foolish, and I start getting ideas about how girls like me shouldn't cry because it looks ugly. But despite all that, it happened. In front of another human being, to boot.

I just.... didn't want him to go. It felt like I was watching him get yanked into a chasm by some great Mayan beastial jaguar god, and there wasn't anything I could do but watch. I didn't leave his side until he left for security, and I just... left. I couldn't stay. I felt like I was going to die.

Lately, I've been playing Red Dead Redemption exclusively, and sitting at home in a game and sugar coma. It feels like there's a piece of me missing, and it's not going to be filled until he's by my side again.

Fingers crossed for this Christmas.

P.S. It doesn't look like summer school is coming through for me, so I'm going to have to take english again.

Deni, if you get Fearnside, I'll have to join you. But otherwise, I'll be looking for a class with him. I'll face his disappointment, and learn it properly this time :/
