Mr Fluffles was a lovely little silkie cockerel that my old housemates and I used to own. He was quite a character and whenever he didn't get his own way with any of the hens that we had he'd stamp his fluffly feet and throw a tantrum! Unfortunately, Mr. Fluffles was killed by a stoat last year

This is my own interpretation of winterfell. Meaning, when I read the books this is something similar to what I envisage... well, before the ironmen got to it of course. This is my favourite place from the series, and I wanted to do my own take on it. It's a personal piece for me. It's certainly not perfect, but then again, it wasn't meant to be.

This was taken at the same time as :thumb204365531: Cwmorthin lake is set in a "basin" between two mountains that were found to be rich in slate deposits.

Cwmorthin was first mined in the early nineteenth century, with almost 500 men being employed there at one time. Sadly, mining declined in later years, with only small scale excavations being done in the early 80's. The mine closed down when I was 4. They tried to re-open the mine in the early 2000's, however it was not a success.

The waste slate that you see here is remains of a once heavily worked quarry. And is very much a part of local history. It is said that there is a WWII plane at the bottom of cwmorthin lake - however, I am not sure of the truth about this! To the right of the picture you can faintly see the remains of a row of houses. These houses were built for the workers to live in. So as that they were never too far away from the mine. There is also a a ruined community of houses on the far side of the lake.
